Teach Content, Teach Comprehension

For inspiration, Reading Teacher Life suggests watching this charming but pointed video about reading comprehension.  It illustrates what happens when you read without any context.
Teach Content, Teach Comprehension

Check out this interesting, thought provoking video presented by Reading Teacher Life.
It brings up some great points about the importance of prior knowledge on
comprehension. The video is interesting and even entertaining, but most importantly brings up
some really important things for teachers to consider when planning their
curriculum and instruction. The botttom line is that after teaching children HOW to read,  the best way to increase comprehension is to spend time providing great instruction
in the content areas to provide students with prior knowledge to draw from while reading.
