Ahoy, me Hearties! Here is a great way to practice reading skills with your lads and lassies

Pirate Attack!
http://www.readingresource.net/support-files/pirateattack.pdf

Use this idea for fun skill practice of any kind.
Go to the link and print a pirate ship for each student.
Print one page of pirates and two pages of treasure chests.
The game is simple. You place the pirates and treasure chests face up on the table.
On top of each pirate and treasure chest lay an index card with a sight word written on it (if you want to practice sight words) or a decodable word with phonic patterns that your students need more work with. (You could use this for math facts, fact and opinion, true or false statements....the options are endless!)
When students read the card correctly they discover whether they have found a pirate or a treasure. Pirates stay on the table and treasures are placed on the student pirate ships. The student with the most treasures at the end of the game is the winner.

Yo, Ho, Ho
Have a great time with this game!
